conferences and workshops

Conferences, retreats, workshops, and special topics courses form an integral part of the training program of the IGERT. Two events annually will convene all Biological Invasions IGERT participants. In addition to scholarly discourse, these events will provide a venue for extended informal interactions between trainers and trainees at all levels.

  • At the beginning of each academic year, the IGERT will sponsor a Fall Conference and Retreat. This retreat will serve as an orientation to the IGERT for incoming trainees. Returning trainees and trainers can use the retreat as an opportunity to learn of fine-tuning in the program for the coming year. In addition, the Fall Conference will provide an opportunity for all Biological Invasions IGERT participants to share their research on biological invasions.

  • Near the end of each academic year, a Spring Workshop will provide a capstone for that year's Collaborative Project. This week-long workshop will bring together IGERT participants, researchers from state and federal agencies and academic institutions outside UC Davis, and other stakeholders for a series of disciplinary and multidisciplinary conferences on the topic of the Collaborative Project.

In addition, the IGERT sponsors other symposia, workshops, and courses on an ad-hoc basis. For information about upcoming special events, see our notices page. Past events include the following.
